Adelaidian Projects - South Australia

Helix Resources Limited 100%
EL3814,EL4022, EL3956

Background

The Adelaidian Projects were acquired by Helix to examine potential for large sedimentary hosted gold and copper systems present in Adelaidean Stratigraphy. Historic copper and gold mines/workings are scattered throughout the region including the Blinman Copper Mine, where approximately 200,000 tonnes of copper ore grading 5% Cu was mined from workings to a depth of 165m from surface in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Exploration Update

Drilling: Diamond and RC Drilling testing the exploration model concluded in late 2008 (partly funded by $100,000 grant from SA Government PACE program). A total of 17 holes for 2,233m RC and 888.5m Diamond drilling were completed. In addition, a water bore was drilled to provide drilling water for the program and an additional source of on going potable water to the local community.

The drilling tested a series of geophysical and geochemical targets (IP, magnetics, soil geochem) surrounding the historical Blinman Mine and at the China Wall prospect.
This work has indicated that there is probable depth continuity of the Blinman Mine mineralisation at least 100m below the historic workings. Along-strike continuity of the host rock package also appears likely. A broad copper mineralised zone (+500ppm) with associated IP, magnetic and surface geochemical anomalies located 700m west of the Blinman Mine supports the view that copper mineralisation is not specific to the “Mine Type Dolomite” as is often suggested in historic work. Intercepts in this zone included 120m @ 600ppm Cu (BLN011) hosted in shales and quartzites.

The Blinman Mine copper mineralised system has a geochemical footprint up to 2 km X 2 km in surface expression, however economic grades of sediment hosted replacement/matrix fill style copper mineralisation in this setting appear to require the presence of later stage brittle veining. This program has confirmed the exploration model and increased Helix’s understanding of the dimensions and structural controls on these copper systems.

Joint venture partners are being sort to advance this project

Olary Project

EL4022
The Olary Project is a large 1500km² area covering the eastern extent of the Adelaide Geosyncline. The area is considered prospective for gold and base metals. The exploration targets being pursued involve late-stage granites, circulating basinal brines and the structural influence of movement on deep seated craton margin structures that may have influenced the development of larger mineral deposits within reactive sedimentary sequences.

Exploration Update

Interpretation of a 10,000 line kilometre detailed aeromagnetic survey suggests the presence of deep magnetic complexes in the south and eastern portions of the survey area interpreted to be intrusive bodies, consistent with the exploration model.

First pass regional surface geochemical surveys have identified several areas of interest including a +3km long gold in calcrete anomaly coincident with the interaction of a large north-west regional fault and a structurally complex magnetic unit buried under shallow cover.

Joint venture partners are being sought to advance these projects

Parachilna Project

EL3814
The Parachilna Project was acquired by Helix for the series of large diapiric domes present in Adelaidean Stratigraphy in the area that host historic copper mines and occurrences including the Blinman Copper Mine, where approximately 200,000 tonnes of copper ore grading 5% Cu was mined from workings to a depth of 165m from surface in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
